Derek Fisher is one of the biggest names in the NBA simply because he has won 5 championships in his entire career. He is also considered as one of the league’s top tier point guard simply because of his leadership on and off the court. But the story of Derek Fisher’s career was not all smiles because he was also able to face ups and downs in his career. Aside from that, his personal life was also filled with ups and downs and various challenges. One of the memorable challenge that she faced is when her daughter got sick. It was a time during the playoff season when her daughter got sick and it caused him to miss some games or to be late during a playoff game. Derek Fisher is not only a great player but a great father as well and the story about her daughter is very inspirational. Derek Fisher managed to overcome the problems that he faced back then especially with the health of his daughter and the good news is, her daughter had a successful surgery and right now she is currently recovering from that rare disease.

Early Career

Derek Fisher was drafted during the 1996 NBA draft and he was the 24^th pick in the first round of the draft. That day, his dream of becoming an NBA player became a reality after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. He played together with Kobe Bryant and Shaquile O`Neal and was able to grab 5 NBA championships and three of them coming off a grand slam title. Derek Fisher had an amazing career but after he was a part of the grand slam team, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors and played for two years in that organization and then traded once again to the Utah Jazz wherein he played 1 season.

Rebuilding

After playing for two different teams in a span of three years, it seemed that the career of Derek Fisher has nowhere to go but a door of opportunity opened once again when the Los Angeles Lakers organization planned on rebuilding its roster plus Coach Phil Jackson also decided to coach once again for the Lakers. It seemed to be a reunion for them because Derek Fisher was asked to play once again for his first ever team in the NBA. He answered the call and played for the Lakers for 5 straight years and was able to win 2 championships during that span of time. It was a huge success for Derek Fisher because he was just among those great players who were able to win 5 championships overall in a same uniform. He was the leading point guard once again for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2007-2012 season of the NBA and he really played great basketball during that time.

Aging Career

Derek Fisher has been playing in the NBA for almost 2 decades now but he has learned a lot of things and made tons of achievements during those years. He was not getting younger and younger each year that’s why during the 2012 season of the NBA, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder but just for several games, the organization traded him to Dallas wherein he finished the 2012 season on that team. The next year after that, the Oklahoma City Thunder once again signed him because they think his presence and voice in the locker room and in the floor is very important to a very young organization. That time, Derek Fisher is already a veteran and he contributed a lot to the organization too especially to the young superstars like Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Since Derek Fisher already aged a bit, he has less playing time during the last moments of his career but still he is considered as an inspirational leader because of his experiences and the championships that he was able to win during the early moments of his career. Derek Fisher was considered as a veteran voice during her aging career and almost all players in the NBA respect and love Derek Fisher.

Retire, End of Career

After winning 5 NBA championships, playing for almost 2 decades in the NBA, it is finally the time for Derek Fisher to retire as a player of the NBA. The 2014 season of the NBA was the end of Derek Fisher’s career and the last team that he played is the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was part of a great organization but since he is already old already and his contract expired with the thunder, he finally decided to put to an end on his playing career. Derek Fisher contributed a lot of things in the NBA and he was also a part of the huge success of the NBA. He is an inspirational person especially if we will talk about the story of her daughter back then. He is not only a great player but also he is a great father to her daughter who suffered a rare disease in the past but thank God, managed to recover from that disease. Derek Fisher will always be remembered as a great point guard and a true leader of the team. He did not win any MVP award but at least, he is considered as one of the best point guard in the Los Angeles Lakers organization. In my own opinion, Derek Fisher will always be remembered as a Laker even though he played in several teams in the NBA but I think his jersey will be hanged around the Staples Center because he contributed a lot of things for the organization to be successful.

A Brand New Start

Derek Fisher already retired as a player for the NBA but after retiring as a player, there is another door of opportunity for him and still it revolves around the NBA. Just recently, Derek Fisher has been acquired as the new head coach of the New York Knicks. In my own personal opinion, Derek Fisher has the capability of coaching a specific team in the NBA because he is a leader and of course an high IQ point guard in the league. Just like Jason Kidd, Derek Fisher is one of those NBA point guards who jumped into coaching right after retiring as a player. I think the New York Knicks made an awesome decision in making Derek Fisher as the new head coach of their organization. He has 5 championship experiences and led his team with his clutch plays. Without any doubt, Derek Fisher has the intellectual capability of becoming a great head coach in the NBA. He was coached by the best coach in the history of the NBA and that’s none other than the great Phil Jackson. He inherited the philosophy and idealism of Phil Jackson because he was a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers for a very long time under the coaching and leadership of Phil Jackson. It seemed that the intellectual capabilities of Phil have been passed to Derek Fisher and he accepts that role right now. Being a head coach of a famous organization is not an easy thing to do. I believe that Derek Fisher is having huge pressure right now because he will be coaching a great team that struggled the entire season. I think Derek Fisher is the missing piece of the puzzle for the New York Knicks and I believe that he will lead the team towards a championship run. Derek Fisher is an amazing player, a great point guard and also an intelligent teammate. He really knows what to do in times of crucial situation that’s why being a head coach would definitely a perfect fit for him. As a fan of Derek Fisher, I just can’t wait to see him coach the New York Knicks next season because I truly believe that he will be able to capitalize the roster and the talent of the entire New York Knicks organization. The organization also did an amazing job in choosing Derek Fisher among all veteran NBA coaches and aspiring coaches in the league. They trust the capability and the knowledge of Derek Fisher and for sure Derek will not let his new team down. It is an owner and privilege for Derek Fisher to coach a great organization just like the New York Knicks. I hope he will have a great time with the Knicks and he will be able to lead the Knicks to an NBA final. His new team is a very famous organization and has been loved by a lot of people and in my own opinion; the addition of Derek Fisher to that organization would be awesome. As a fan of him, I wish that he will be able to take on the challenge because a lot of people are having high expectations from him since he is a great point guard and he has a high IQ in understanding the game of basketball.
