Ophelia Agawin biography,conduit,pork barrel,napoles Pork barrel scam is one of the most controversial issues in the Philippines. Philippines is facing lots of controversies and I must say Pork barrel scam is the most controversial scandal in the Philippines involving government officials. Yes! We all know the duties of government officials they serve as the leader of the country and they should set a good example in the society especially people voted and trusted them to make the country even better, to help the country and its people but the worst scenario some government officials are scammer, some of them are culprit and stealing money from certain projects or program and I am talking about pork barrel. Pork barrel is an occupation of government to spend money for localized projects in the society. A pork barrel fund is for the localized projects and this money from pork barrel send to a representative every district. But then there is a government official took the money and transferred the funds to her funds. Janet Napoles is the mastermind of the pork barrel scam. Janet Napoles faced pork barrel allegations and the whistleblower testified that some government official and law makers were involved in the pork barrel scam. The whistleblower testified that some senators like Ramon Revilla, Jingoy Estrada and Ponce Enrile were involved of the pork barrel scam. The latest, Ophelia Agawin is also involved in the said pork barrel scam. Ophelia Agawin is the assistant secretary for Department of Agriculture, she was appointed by President Benigno Aquino in 2012. Ophelia Agawin is the former treasurer and director of state-owned ZNAC rubber estate corp.(ZREC) from 2006 to 2010. The whistle-blower said that the treasurer and director of ZREC had been used to release money worth of P282 million in some senators pork barrel funds. Ophelia Agawin is the conduit of P432 million fertilizer fund scam in 2003. Ophelia Agawin received 10 percent in commissions, the 10 percent was from the pork barrel funds that spent through ZNAC rubber estate corp. (ZREC). There are several names got involved in the pork barrel scam, this case will take so long to give justice. There are people don’t want talk things they know and there are lots of documents and evidence to provide as evidence. Every now and then there are different sides of story especially Janet Napoles did not give a real answer or she’s not telling the truth. The government officials and lawmakers keep on denying the allegations.
